Product information "Testomat® LAB CL"

Testomat LAB CL – Online Measuring Transmitter for Total Chlorine and Free Chlorine

Precise chlorine monitoring device from Heyl for water treatment systems

The Testomat LAB CL is a wet-chemical online measuring transmitter for the precise analysis of total chlorine or free chlorine in water.

The Testomat has been developed for use in multi-parameter systems and for connection to higher-level control systems. The analysis is based on the DPD method in accordance with EN ISO 7393-2: two reagents are dosed, and after a reaction time of approximately 60 seconds, the measurement result is available.

Integrated data storage on an SD or SDHC card in CSV format simplifies operation and evaluation. Measurement values, status messages, and error messages can be transmitted to higher-level control systems via the 4–20 mA output and the RS232 interface.

Device features and benefits

The Testomat LAB CL impresses with precise and reliable chlorine analysis based on DPD photometry in a measuring range of 0–5 mg/l. Thanks to its design and flexible interfaces, the device can be easily integrated into existing systems. Automatic data storage, simple operation, and low-maintenance components ensure efficient operation.

Wide range of applications

  • Monitoring water quality in water treatment and drinking water facilities
  • Process monitoring
  • Monitoring chlorine concentration in cooling tower processes
  • Connection to higher-level control systems

Which functionalities make the Testomat LAB stand out in chlorine measurement?

The Testomat LAB CL and CL-R feature innovative measurement technology:

  • RS232 interface for transmission of measurement values and error messages
  • Parameterization via SD card or the “Servicemonitor” software using Mini-USB (device side) to USB 2.0 (e.g. PC or notebook)
  • Multilingual menu navigation in German, English, French, Dutch, and Portuguese
  • Firmware update via SD card
  • Compact design
  • Optimized water detection based on an optical measurement principle
  • Integrated self-test with continuous monitoring
  • Optimized reagent set for total chlorine measurement (reduction from three to two reagents)

Additional functions of the CL-R version

Parameterization and reading of device parameters via the RS232 interface.

Proven performance profile of the Testomat device family

  • Highly accurate peristaltic pumps
  • Reliable, low-maintenance operation
  • Minimal reagent and water consumption
  • 4–20 mA analog output for transmission of measurement values
  • RS232 interface for transmission of measurement values and fault messages
  • Common alarm output
  • Optimized reagents: only two reagents required for total chlorine determination
  • Optimized reagent containers with matched fill volumes so that both containers are depleted at the same time

Analysis triggering

  • Automatic interval operation (interval pause adjustable from 10 to 60 minutes)
  • Measurement phase mode (start signal triggers a sequence of analyses lasting from 10 minutes up to 12 hours)
  • External analysis input (start/stop)
  • Manual start

Optional accessories

  • OLED display
  • Protective cover to increase the IP protection class
